About Me
I am a freelance Software Architect-Developer, with over 30 years experience in leading, designing and developing software solutions and commercial products for the Microsoft and AWS stack, predominantly within the financial services sector.
My speciality is in data management, risk management, analytics and business intelligence, having founded Xenomorph in 1995 where I was Chief Technology Architect for 23 years. This exposed me to a wide variety of challenges, both technically and managerially, providing me with valuable skills that are transferrable to all industries. This combination of both executive and development experience enables me to approach projects from both a strategic and detailed perspective.
My passion is in delivering innovative solutions to business problems, through collaboration, clear thinking and software. I love nothing more than working with people at all levels within an organisation to break down their challenges into practical applications that deliver long-term value to the business.
More recently, I have provided advisory and development services to a number of start-ups in Australia and completed a number of long-term projects for a Financial Services ISV based in the United States.
I am originally from the UK, but now live with my family in Melbourne, Australia, having first moved here as a Permanent Resident in 2010 and later becoming an Australian citizen in 2020. It's a truly beautiful part of the world. When I'm not working, I love exploring the Australian outdoors with the family and fishing. I also enjoy watching all sports, hiking, a glass of beer or wine, sampling new foods and listening to live music. Much to my kids' enjoyment, I am not very good at video games...
